Jacob Wambugu is a distinguished Research Psychologist, boasting an illustrious career spanning over 21 years across three nations: South Africa, Uganda, and Kenya. At AJW Africa, Jacob leads the research and design assignments, designing and deploying both qualitative and quantitative research studies tailored to client specific areas of interest. He has been the AJW lead researcher for various assignments including those undertaken for Nation Media Group, Absa Bank Kenya, CLASP and FCDO-Act! Jacob possesses a unique talent for transforming data into actionable insights that not only gauge performance but also shape the trajectory of programme design and delivery. His deep-rooted interest in Predictive Modelling solutions adds another layer to his skill set. This keen focus on predicting future outcomes demonstrates his commitment to staying at the forefront of research innovation. He is well-versed in employing established methods such as Randomized Control Trials (RCT), surveys, focus groups, and interviews. Furthermore, he excels in the collection and analysis of vast amounts of unstructured data, employing innovative approaches that yield invaluable insights. His research prowess spans a wide spectrum of disciplines. Some of his notable areas of expertise encompass Masculinity & Fatherhood, Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights (SRHR) of men, HIV Ethics & Behavioral Change, MSMEs, Small Scale Farmers & Climate Change, Race Politics, Intelligence, Organizational Development, and Psychopathology, among others. Prior to joining AJW, Jacob was also lecturer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, Kampala International University in Uganda & Mt. Kenya University in Kenya (where he lectured on Psychopathology and Research Methods). Other noteworthy organizations that Jacob worked in: Population Services International (South Africa) as a Senior Research Associate. The Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) (SA) where he was the National Coordinator of The Fatherhood Project, and the African National Congress (ANC), where he served as a Policy Consultant. Jacob holds a Masters of Social Sciences cum laude (Research Psychology) – University of KwaZulu-Natal- South Africa and Bachelor of Social Sciences from the same institution.
