Ernest Omondi
Ernest is a Data Analyst with over 7 years of experience delivering analytical insights across complex, high-volume operational environments. He has a strong track record of diagnosing performance issues, identifying drivers of variability, and translating data into actionable recommendations that improve efficiency, quality, and organisational decision-making. Ernest brings deep technical expertise in SQL, Python, and R for data extraction, statistical analysis, and automation, combined with advanced dashboard development in Power BI and Tableau, and is skilled in hypothesis-driven analysis, root cause investigation, and data quality validation frameworks.
Ernest has served as a Data Specialist providing technical support to leading international organisations, including the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe), the International Labour Organization (ILO), and Mercy Corps in South Sudan, where he designed dashboards tracking key performance indicators, automated recurring analysis pipelines using Python and R, and implemented structured data validation and QA frameworks to strengthen measurement integrity. He also worked as an ICT Officer at the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics and as a Monitoring & Evaluation Officer at Abt Associates, where he designed data systems and reporting frameworks to track performance indicators across multiple projects.
At AJW Africa, Ernest supports the analysis function and leads the team in data analysis, taking ownership of the technical processes that turn collected data into actionable evidence. He is responsible for structuring datasets, running statistical analyses, and building dashboards and visualizations that make complex findings accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences. Beyond the mechanics of analysis, Ernest leads the synthesis process across quantitative and qualitative workstreams, integrating findings from multiple data sources into a coherent overall picture. He helps drive the “so what” interpretation stage of each engagement, working with the research leads to move beyond raw findings and articulate what the data actually means for clients.
Ernest holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Statistics with Computing from the University of Kabianga, is a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) with certifications in data management, analytics, and business intelligence, and has additional training in Monitoring & Evaluation and Implementation Research and Data Use.
